Last weekend saw another SPAIR seminar, this time at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg. Thanks to the great work of the local networking group at Bucerius Law School, almost 30 participants discussed current affairs and heared from three lecturers.

Asian Affairs sheds light on current affairs within business and politics of Asia. Curated by SPAIR’s Christian E. Rieck, you will find updated links and comments to news stories on a range of online publications. Christian Rieck is Senior Analyst at Brussels-based Global Governance Institute and a lecturer at Berlin’s Humboldt University. He brings a wealth of knowledge from previous engagements and studies at Oxford University, Hamburg-based think tank GIGA and others to Asian Affairs.

SPAIR e.V. invited its members and interested students from Berlin to take part in a focus seminar on Taiwan and Asia in preparation for the 2012 HPAIR Asia Conference in August. With talks by Prof. Cen-Chu Shen, Christian E. Rieck, M.Sc., and Thomas Reemer, SPAIR members and participants alike enjoyed insightful talks by three very different guests from different spheres. SPAIR, the Asia network for students in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, is delighted to invite all students to apply for the 2012 South American Business Forum.
SABF will take place in Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires from August 3-5, and is organized by students of the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA). Applicants must be born on January 1st, 1986 or later, and need to write a motivational essay to become one of 100 selected participants from all over the world. Similar to the past conferences, this year’s SABF will shed more light on issues pertaining to South America’s role in an interconnected world. With 40 speakers from international corporations, institutes, and organizations, participants have a first-rate opportunity to expand their knowledge about South America. Delegates can also take part in the accompanying program and visit sites around Buenos Aires.
Applications are now being accepted on SABF’s website until May 6th, 2012.
We are pleased to inform you about scholarship programs made available to German students by the Republic of China. All scholarships are open for general application and a great way of getting to know the Republic of China, whose capital Taipei will host this year’s HPAIR Asia Conference.
Applications for the 2012 HPAIR Asia Conference in Taipei (Aug. 24 – 28) are now being accepted at the website of HPAIR. Early applications can be entered until March 31; the final date for applications is June 30.
